Many people who undergo radiotherapy, chemotherapy and removal of lymph nodes often suffer swelling of their arms, commonly known as lymphedema, as a permanent side effect of treatment. Compression sleeves are recommended as the most effective way of controlling the swelling. Conceived of when two breast cancer survivors were disappointed with the rough textured, hot and heavy products that were available to them, Lymphediva sleeves help make lymphedema management easier by offering products in a wide range of fashionable and comfortable styles that are appealing to wear.

The sleeves utilize graduated compression, with the highest pressure at the wrist which acts as a pump to encourage the lymph vessels to push the lymph fluid toward the body. Lymphediva’s garments are regularly tested using a Vista-Medical FSA pressure mapping system to assure proper compression.

The sleeve has a seamless design with 360° stretch which allows for a full range of unrestricted motion and reduces binding at the elbow. The fine knit fabric produces a lightweight and breathable garment, which feels like a ‘second skin’, while the moisture-wicking pulls sweat away from the body. The sleeve is infused with aloe vera for added softness and skin protection.

Key Benefits:

  • Lymphedema compression sleeve in stylish designs

Is only one size and pressure available?

No, there are multiple sizes and selected pressures available. Once you know what size and pressure you need, select what sleeve pattern you like. We will then be in touch to discuss size and pressure.

What is a LympheDIVA sleeve?

LympheDIVA sleeve is a pressure garment used for people who are diagnosed with lymphedema. Lymphedema is a condition characterised by swelling of the arms or legs. It can be one or both arms or legs. It is usually caused by the removal of the lymph nodes under the armpit or near the groin.

People with a breast cancer diagnosis are the main demographic who are at risk of developing lymphedema. This is because cancer cells can spread easily from the breast tissue into the lymph nodes. Therefore many women and men have lymph nodes removed due to the presence of cancer cells in them, or for precautionary reasons.

How do pressure garments help alleviate lymphedema?

Lymphedema is a condition where lymph fluid builds in up a limb, or limbs, however, it does not resolve spontaneously. Lymph fluid contains white blood cells, which are very important for fighting infections. If your body recognises something foreign, such if you cut your finger, lymph fluid will go to the finger, so the white blood cells can fight the incoming bacteria.

Lymph nodes help filter the fluid, however, if your lymph nodes have been removed, it can be difficult to remove the fluid. It builds up in the arm, which can cause swelling and pressure. It can be quite painful and limit mobility.

Pressure garments provide gentle pressure to ensure that fluid does not build up beyond a normal point. This reduces swelling and improves movement in the hand as well as release any pressure that can lead to pain.

We recommend consulting with a doctor or lymphedema therapist in order to find the most appropriate therapy for each individual.
